Superenduro-world championship

Introduction of the superenduro world championship

The nature of the sport

The sport is essentially a combination of enduro, motocross and trial racing, with training sessions against the clock and races against body-on-body combat. There are different sections, some enduro, typically with wooden and stone obstacles, some motocross elements such as jumps, wave lines, mandiners, corners, and some trial skill elements, including higher structures.

Format

The Superenduro GP rounds are typically one-day events, with riders competing in three categories in short, short races of a few minutes, usually in sports halls. The race day usually takes place on a Saturday, with practice sessions and heats until 16:00, followed by the finals at 16:00, which are followed by a spectacular opening show from 18:00.

Riders

The riders will compete in three categories: in the Prestige, world stars such as Cody Webb, Colton Haaker, Jonny Walker, four-time world champion Billy Bolt and six-time world champion Taddy Bazusiak will compete against each other, as well as Márk Szőke and Norbert Zsigovits. The Junior category is also very competitive. In addition to these, there are also insert races and a separate event for children.

Conduct

The race day will start with morning practice sessions, where entrants must qualify for the evening races. In each category, 14 riders will qualify for the finals. Those who do not qualify in a straight race still have a chance in the consolation stage, the so-called “Last Chance” race, where the top two finishers will go through.

After the gates open, the evening show kicks off as a prelude to the main event, with a variety of stunts and performers, followed by the presentation of the King’s Class riders.

Before the evening’s racing, the 7 fastest riders in the Prestige category will take part in the Super Pole, where the riders will complete a lap each. The three fastest riders will receive championship points. After the Super Pole, the races will start: the Junior and Prestige fields will complete three races during the evening, while the European Cup drivers will complete two races.

A special feature of the sport is that riders start from two rows and the second race is in reverse order, with the fastest riders starting from the second row, making the races more exciting. The riders will battle it out in front of thousands of spectators for the overall victory of the evening.

The race was held at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena between 2019 and 2023, each time using 36 hours of non-stop construction, 60 truckloads of earth and 2-3 truckloads of stone and wood to create a track that is unrivalled in the Arena’s year-round programme. The Superenduro GP of Hungary 2025 will take place on 8 February 2025 in the MVM Dome, the largest sports hall in the region.
